To help you look and FEEL your best, MD Aesthetics & Health Services offers NEUROMODULATOR TREATMENT to reduce distressing symptoms of some chronic ailments such as migraines, excessive teeth grinding ("bruxism"), and excessive underarm and palm sweating ("hyperhidrosis").
Neuromodulators are injectables derived from Botulinum Toxin A (a.k.a "Botox") that can help relieve pain from migraines and excessive teeth grinding by limiting the movement of the overactive muscles that cause them. It can also reduce excessive underarm and palm sweating ("HYPERHIDROSIS") by blocking the nerve signals to the skin's sweat glands responsible for producing sweat.
There is only ONE type of neuromodulator in the market that has FDA approval for chronic migraine prophylaxis and treatment of axillary hyperyhidrosis (underarm sweating). All other neuromodulators that are used alternatively for therapeutic purposes, are “off-label”, but comparatively effective. Moreover, all other areas treated for excessive sweating such as palms, soles, scalp, breast folds are likewise “off-label”.
Medical / Therapeutic Neuromodulator Treatment is NOT covered by OHIP. However, if eligibility criteria are met, many private medical insurance plans provide partial reimbursement and cover some or all of the medication cost (Botox® drug itself) for chronic migraine prophylaxis and axillary hyperhydrosis treatment. A trial of first and second line treatments should have been done before private insurance will approve Botox®.
A Medical Consultation is required prior to any Neuromodulator Treatment to thoroughly assess if this medical intervention is appropriate and safe for individual patient.
Consultations are complimentary. A referral is NOT required.
